“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection,” the great Winston Churchill once said.

For many this statement is true. People wind down, go on vacation, and spend time with their family. Businesses rush to put out end-results year and make analysis on how to do better for the new year. Besides retail, most industries will go dormant. This is your advantage to shine.

This is the time of year and perfect opportunity to catch your competition while they are sleeping. The world at large will be less competitive, including the music industry. It’s time for you to make that extra phone call, reach out to that A&R on their down time where they have disassociated themselves from work, and establish relationships with people so you can be on their radar in 2017.

Don’t be lazy. Some of your favorite artists will miss family time throughout this month, because they have prepare for some performance on Christmas or New Years. Sacrifices are necessary if you want to make it BIG. The music industry is not a game, it’s ultra competitive. That’s the cold hard truth.

Nevertheless, at the end of the day your results are based on the decisions you make. I’m not suggesting not to enjoy Christmas day or New Years. However, the few weeks and days in between and after, are crucial.

Go out, be a bad ass and beat the competition. The amount of work you put is almost always a high determinant on how your success will be. However, in this case it’s working hard but being smart.

Play against tide of everybody jollying and partying. Make their festivity your opportunity.
